Trust & verification
SpendLedger republishes official government spending records. A site like this is only useful if you can check it, so we publish our receipts: where every record comes from, the quality gates each data load must pass, and the reconciliation math against each government's own published totals, including whatever part doesn't match.

The standing rules
- Official sources only. Bulk data from each government's own transparency portal; the full list is on data sources.
- History is never destroyed. Records are archived exactly as received, append-only, even when a state overwrites its own.
- Deterministic handling. No estimates, no imputation, no fuzzy matching; the rules are on methodology.
- Published reconciliation. Our fiscal-year totals are compared against the state's own figures, and the comparison is public, gap and all.
